I know it may sound a little “out there” to some folks, but the deeper you go on the healing path, the more the world around you seems to come alive.
You begin to realize that every part of nature has a spirit — and an energetic frequency. You start to see and feel how you, too, vibrate at different frequencies. So do your family, your friends, your pets.
Through deeper meditation and ceremonial work, you start to see your reality — this physical existence — for what it truly is: a majestic symphony of vibration. An infinitely complex, holographic tapestry of interwoven energetic frequencies. The alchemical stitchwork so tightly woven that the matrix in front of you actually feels solid.
But the sages, oracles, and shamans know what most have forgotten — that everything we perceive is an illusion of sorts. A magical dance of light and dark. A cosmic mirage.
True healers know how to work with the underlying energetics of this reality — what some call “The Ultimate Reality” — to help those who need it. By working with the frequencies at the core of a health challenge, a relationship struggle, or an unresolved emotional block, that situation can be corrected. A “miraculous” solution or “cure” can take place.
The fabric of our world is not what we have been told it is.
The medicinal herbs you take are so much more than leaves and flowers harvested from branches. Many herbalists believe that plants carry a unique — and measurable — vibration, one that is able to rebalance the vibration in you that is causing illness or disease.
The same goes for the food you eat. The water you drink. The people you surround yourself with. And on and on.
Everything is energy.
Once a person experiences this, they are naturally drawn to the sacred traditions of our ancestors. Indigenous ceremonial practices begin to make more sense. The magic is no longer the woo-woo fairy tale you’ve been told it is. You can feel the purpose and power behind ancient rituals — and behind the ritual items and tools used within them.
If you are energy… if herbs are energy… if everything is energy…
How does that change the way you look at crystals and sacred stones?
“In crystal, we have a pure evidence of the existence of a formative life principle… it is nonetheless a living being.”
– Nicola Tesla
From an anthropological standpoint, we see them adorning ceremonial settings all across the world. Rose quartz on the mesa blanket of a Quechua pampamisayuq. Opal and onyx embedded into the rim of a Eucharist goblet in an Istanbul cathedral. A carved emerald carefully fitted into the center of a gilded amulet near a Druid stone circle in Ireland.
And what about the stone circles themselves?
The Sacred Stones Of Our Ancestors
The ancient world is one long tribute to the power of sacred stones.
In Ancient Egypt, lapis lazuli was revered for protection and often worn in necklaces and bracelets. Carnelian was placed on mummies to guide and protect the soul on its journey into the afterlife.
Across the Maya empire, jade was worn in jewelry and deity masks, symbolizing life-force and water in the older Olmec tradition. Obsidian was used by Aztec shamans as a scrying mirror — called a tezcatl — to see into other realms.
In Zuni and Pueblo culture, turquoise is seen as the bridge between the Earth and the sky. Even more importantly, it represents rain, and is often worn in rain dances. As such, it is a powerful symbol of deeply desired hopes and wishes. By using turquoise in ceremony, Native peoples heighten those wishes into formal and profoundly powerful requests.
On the Siberian steppe, shamans gather meteorite and use it to construct protective armor against malignant spirits. Meteoric iron — or “sky-iron” — is considered a supreme substance, having already been tempered by the celestial gods in its passage across the heavens.
The Navaratna, or nine sacred stones, of Hindu mysticism are referenced in Vedic texts like the Agni Purana and the Garuda Purana. These ancient scripts detail each gem’s correspondence to one of the nine celestial bodies — the Navagraha — the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, and the lunar nodes Rahu and Ketu. Each stone is used to balance the astral influences on the soul’s path.
Are we to believe that ancient cultures around the world all held these beliefs about the power of stones out of some silly superstition?
We thought the same thing about indigenous herbs — until the science began to prove their efficacy in treating myriad illnesses, often better than modern drugs.
We thought the same thing about yoga and meditation — until science proved their tremendous health benefits.
Ayahuasca, peyote, and psilocybin mushrooms were deemed dangerous hippie drugs — until recent research began to demonstrate their remarkable ability to heal trauma, among many other emotional and mental ailments.
And the same, I believe, is true of crystals.
“Everybody needs a rock.” – Byrd Baylor
But like the practices I just mentioned, you have to learn how to work with them. To meet them halfway. To learn their unique vibrational frequencies.
And then they themselves will show you how they are to be used.
They awaken an intuitive part of you that simply knows.
Learn To Work With Them
If this is stirring something in you — a quiet knowing, a subtle pull toward the stones — I want to invite you to join us.
On Thursday April 23rd at 8pm ET, we’re hosting a free LIVE Crystal Healing Webinar, with crystal healer and intuitive Mariah De La Mer, bestselling author of Crystals For Women. Together, we’ll explore the specific stones used across sacred traditions, how to choose the right crystal for what you’re moving through, how to cleanse and activate the stones you already own, and the simple daily practices that turn a beautiful object on a shelf into an ally on your path.
It’s going to be a grounding, beautiful evening — and a doorway for those ready to meet the stones halfway.
I hope to see you there.
Stay curious,
