On the healing path, sometimes you need to suspend your disbelief for a moment and give your body and intuition a little time to feel out new remedies and rituals.
For years, I avoided the corner of the herb shop where the crystals and stones are on display. It just felt too out there for the rational part of my mind to comprehend.
How could a solid hunk of mineral have a spirit or healing energy?
But things shifted for me in the past decade. The chatterbox of my mind has started to quiet and new portals have opened into non-verbal realms of existence. Turns out that when you stop trying to make sense out of everything, a lot of the animistic traditions begin to reveal themselves to you.
The core principle of animism is that everything is alive and possesses its own spirit. This may contradict what you were taught in school, but you’ll find this worldview is central to most indigenous cultures.
Everything is alive and has a spirit… And stones, crystals, and gems are no exception.
To dive deeper into these crystal realms, I recently sat down with Mariah De La Mer, the bestselling author of Crystal Healing for Women. In the video below, we explore the art of communicating with crystals – from their unique energetic imprints to how they interact with your own frequency. We also explore the shared consciousness of stone families, their capacity to both receive and emit information, and the new tones and frequencies becoming available to us as we humans evolve on a collective spiritual level.

One more beautiful crystal resource for you… This one is a hidden gem (pun intended!) that I keep in a special spot on my bookshelf. It’s a book called Everybody Needs A Rock, by the late and legendary Byrd Baylor. If you don’t know Byrd’s work, I highly recommend reading all of her incredible books – but start with this one.
Stay curious,

What a lovely conversation!
Also, thanks for the reminder of Everybody Needs a Rock. Another of her favorite books of my kids was The Table Where Rich People Sit. A superb read!
The Labradorite on my mantelpiece/altar pulled me out of my chair, and is now in my left hand while hanging around my neck on a black cord. Perhaps that is where the message came from that the Cycle (or the Drum itself) behind it), had turned and to switch from the one I had been using back to my first one.
